Skills Proximity helps you quickly assess how well a candidate’s skills match a role, so you can make faster, more confident hiring decisions.

What You See

Skills Proximity provides three key insights:

  • Skills Alignment Match (rating)
  • Skills Alignment Score (percentage)
  • Skills breakdown (matched, inferred, and missing skills)

You can view this information in the Candidates app and the Candidate Evaluation feature.

How to interpret results

Skills Alignment Match

The Skills Alignment Match translates a candidate’s score into a simple rating for quick comparison.

Match Score Range Decimal Range
Strong 80–100% 0.8–1.0
Good 70–79% 0.7–0.79
Partial 50–69% 0.5–0.69
Limited 0–49% 0–0.49

Use this when: You want a fast, high-level comparison between candidates.

Skills Alignment Score

The Skills Alignment Score shows how closely a candidate’s skills match the role.

  • Expressed as a percentage (0–100%)
  • Calculated using:
    • The candidate’s skills
    • The role’s skills profile
    • A standardized skills framework

A higher score indicates a closer match.

Use this when: You need a more detailed evaluation of candidate fit.

Skills Breakdown

The breakdown shows how a candidate’s skills compare to the role across three categories:

Category Description Impact
Matched Skills required for the role that are also present in the candidate’s profile Increase the alignment score
Inferred Skills not explicitly listed but identified based on related experience and skills Highlight potential strengths
Missing Required skills not found in the candidate’s profile Lower the alignment score

Tip: Candidates with more matched skills and fewer missing skills typically receive higher scores.

How results are calculated

Skills Proximity evaluates candidates by comparing role requirements with candidate information.

Role data includes:

  • Job description
  • Required skills listed in the requisition
  • Additional skills added to the requisition
  • An AI-generated skills profile for the role

Candidate data includes:

  • Resume or CV
  • Attachments and submitted materials

The system combines the candidate’s materials into a single profile and compares it against the role data using a standardized skills framework to calculate the match, score, and breakdown.
