About the Feature
What is the Skills Proximity feature?
Skills Proximity uses AI to compare a candidate’s skills with job requirements and show how well they match. It helps hiring teams quickly evaluate candidates using clear, data-driven insights, improving decision-making and confidence.
Access and Setup
Who can use the Skills Proximity feature?
First, your organization must activate the Beeline Premium AI package on Beeline Enterprise. After the Skills Proximity feature is configured, hiring managers, program office users, and personnel responsible for evaluating candidates can access it from the Candidates app or the Candidate Evaluation feature.
Where can I get information about costs and activation?
AI packages can be added to Enterprise through a Service Request ticket. For details and costs, contact your Relationship Manager.
Can we control which user roles can access the Skills Proximity feature? Can it be activated or deactivated by role?
No. Once the Skills Proximity feature is added to Enterprise, it is available to all users who can evaluate candidates.
Processing and Behavior
How long does it take for results to return?
Results are returned approximately 15 minutes after the requisition is approved.
What happens when a requisition is edited? Is scoring triggered again?
Updating a requisition sends the new data to the AI engine, but existing submitted candidates are not automatically rescored. Their current skill alignment remains based on the original requisition and may no longer be accurate. To recalculate skill alignment, each candidate must be resubmitted so they can be evaluated against the updated requisition.
How many languages are supported?
Currently, only English is supported. Resumes and job descriptions in other languages cannot be processed.
Skills Alignment (Match and Scoring)
Are years of experience performing a certain skill taken into consideration during the scoring process?
No. A candidate’s years of experience are not included in the AI analysis.
What are matched, missing, and inferred skills?
For definitions of these skill types, see this article.
Can I identify which skills are more important when analyzing a candidate’s skillset?
No, this is not available at this time.
Is there a maximum number of skills that can be returned?
No, there is no maximum limit.
Should I expect to always see matched, inferred, and missing skills for every candidate?
No. Any combination of matched, inferred, and missing skills may be empty after the scoring process is complete.
If there are missing skills, does it lower the alignment?
It can. Missing skills are identified during the matching process and may affect alignment.
Are inferred skills or missing skills weighted in scoring, or are they just informational?
Inferred and missing skills are factored into scoring and are a byproduct of the vectorization process.

Errors and Troubleshooting
Why am I seeing an error instead of the Skills Proximity breakdown?
Errors can occur for different reasons. Check the error message for details to help identify the issue. See this article to learn more about error handling.
For example, in a test site, candidate attachments may be removed during a refresh due to data retention rules. If those attachments are missing, Skills Proximity data cannot be generated or displayed.
To avoid issues, test the Skills Proximity feature to ensure the AI scoring works as expected and supports your hiring decisions. Learn more about testing the feature in this article.
